Moderation

SheekBot keeps your chat clean on Kick and Twitch at the same time: spam filters for the usual problems, your own banned words, and a !permit command for when a viewer needs to share a link.

Moderators and you (the broadcaster) are never filtered.

Prerequisites

  • Kick or Twitch connected under Dashboard → Integrations.
  • Twitch accounts connected before 15 September 2026 need to reconnect Twitch once, so SheekBot can delete messages and time viewers out. Until then only the Warn only action works on Twitch.

Step 1: Switch on Spam Filters

Go to Dashboard → Moderation. Each filter has a switch; turning one on uses sensible settings straight away.

Filter Catches Starts as
Links Any link, except domains you allow 10-second timeout, subs exempt
Excess caps Messages that are mostly capitals Delete, subs exempt
Excess symbols Punctuation walls, ASCII art, zalgo text Delete, subs exempt
Emote spam Too many emotes in one message Delete, subs exempt
Repetition The same word or character over and over Warning, then 1-minute timeout
Long messages Messages over a length limit Delete, subs exempt

Click Settings on a filter to change:

  • Action: delete the message, time out, ban, or only warn
  • Timeout length: from 10 seconds to a week
  • Who skips this rule: moderators only; VIPs too; or subscribers and VIPs
  • Warn first: the first offence deletes the message with a warning; a repeat within 10 minutes gets the timeout or ban
  • Tell the viewer why: SheekBot replies with a short reason, like "@viewer easy on the caps (timeout 1m)"
  • The filter's own limits, for example the caps percentage or the allowed domains for links

In the Links filter's settings, list the domains anyone may post, one per line, for example:

clips.twitch.tv
youtube.com
youtu.be
kick.com

Subdomains are included, so twitch.tv also allows clips.twitch.tv. Song requests (!sr <link>) are never caught by the link filter.

Step 3: Add Banned Words

Under Banned words and custom rules, click Add rule:

  1. Give it a name (viewers never see it unless the action is Warn only)
  2. Keep the type Word list and enter words or phrases, one per line or comma separated
  3. Pick an action and click Save

Word lists match whole words: ass catches "ass" but not "class". Use * as a wildcard: scam* also catches "scammer", *coin* catches anything containing "coin". Matching ignores capitals and accents.

For anything a word list can't express, choose Regular expression. Patterns that could slow chat down are refused when you save.

Chat Commands

Command Who What it does
!permit <user> Moderators Lets that viewer post one link in the next 60 seconds

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing happens on Twitch: reconnect Twitch under Integrations so SheekBot gets the moderation permissions. Warn only rules work without it.
  • A filter catches too much: raise its limit in Settings, or exempt subscribers and VIPs.
  • A rule never fires: check its switch is on and the viewer isn't a moderator, VIP or subscriber you've exempted. Each rule shows how many messages it has caught.
  • Several rules match one message: the strongest action wins (ban, then timeout, then delete, then warn).
