SheekBot can play music in your Discord voice channels. Ask for a song by name, paste a YouTube or Spotify link, or queue a whole playlist — and control it with slash commands or the buttons under the player.
Discord music is in beta. Turn it on from Dashboard → Settings → Beta Program before using the commands below.
Prerequisites
- Discord is connected under Dashboard → Integrations, and SheekBot has been added to your server
- The Discord music beta is on for your account (see above)
- SheekBot can Connect and Speak in the voice channel you use
Playing Music
Join a voice channel, then in any text channel:
/play query: not like us
query can be:
- A song name or artist — SheekBot plays the best YouTube match
- A YouTube link — a video, a playlist, or a Mix
- A Spotify link — a track, album or playlist
Playlists, Mixes and albums queue up to 100 songs. SheekBot joins your voice channel and posts Now playing once each song has actually started.
Spotify Links
Spotify doesn't let bots stream its audio, so SheekBot reads the song names from Spotify and plays each one from YouTube. Most songs match perfectly. Spotify's own editorial and algorithmic playlists (like Today's Top Hits) are off-limits to apps — use a playlist a person made, an album or a song instead.

The pause, skip and stop buttons under the player do the same as the commands. SheekBot leaves the voice channel when the queue runs out.
Music from Chat and Spotify (Dual Play)
Two optional switches under Dashboard → Integrations → Spotify connect your Discord music with your stream's Spotify:
- Discord /play → your Spotify — songs played with
/playin your server are also added to your live Spotify queue. Single songs only, so a big playlist won't flood your queue. Needs Spotify Premium with Spotify open on a device. - Chat !sr → Discord voice — song requests from your Kick or Twitch chat also play in Discord, while SheekBot is already in a voice channel there. SheekBot posts who requested it and from which chat.
Troubleshooting
- "The voice music bot is currently in limited beta" — opt in from Dashboard → Settings → Beta Program.
- "You need to be in a voice channel" — join one first, then
/play. - "Couldn't join that voice channel" — SheekBot is missing Connect or Speak in that channel. Check the channel's own permission settings, not just SheekBot's role.
- A song gets skipped — some videos can't be streamed by any bot: age-restricted, members-only, private, or not yet premiered. SheekBot skips them and mentions it with the next song that plays. After three in a row it stops instead of skipping through the whole queue.
- A Spotify song played the wrong version — search for it by name with
/playinstead, or paste the exact YouTube link.
